Christmas this year is going to be VERY exciting for Story! She loves the Christmas tree and takes all the balls off on a daily basis and throws them around the room in true Christmas cheer! J Christmas morning will be a fun one! She’s such a big girl now and communicating more and more every day. She talks in total gibberish with the odd real word thrown in there; it’s pretty entertaining and very cool to see her add new words on a regular basis. Her favourite words are: “there you go”, “thank-you”, “hi Daddy”, “night night”, “shoes”, “coat”, “Lola”, “baba”, “outside” and yes..the dreaded “no!”.
Her health has been wonderful; despite a couple colds she has been very healthy. We do notice a cold does settle in her lungs and a rattley cough often hangs on longer than we’d like, but she does always fully recover. So, for a 1 pounder born with barely any lung buds, on a ventilator and oxygen, with multiple lung tears and collapses…she is definitely doing better than ever expected. J We’re still trying to wean her off the Prevacid for her reflux, but she’s not quite ready yet..as soon as the dose is lowered her reflux will flair and become very noticeable and cause her quite a bit of discomfort. Reflux with preemies is very common, but normally disappears at 1 year of age, so we’ll just keep trying in the months ahead to lower the dose of Prevacid very slowly to give her ample time to adjust.
I can’t even believe Story will be turning 2 this February! Were so thankful for her health, zest for life, happy nature and boundless energy. (really, I have yet to meet another toddler that is as happy or as active as Story!)
Happy Holidays!

Story looks beautiful! Congratulations!
Merry Christmas!
Hi Laurel!
Story is looking amazing, as always. I loved the pic of her beside the tree so much that I stole it, lol. It's now my desktop picture. What a great way to remember the holidays every morning when I turn on the computer.
My sister Sammi, who was born at 2 pounds 4 ounces, didn't have the reflux problems but she did suffer from asthma for the first 8 years of her life. It was a different kind and often sounded as if she has severe pneumonia. Instead of the mucus gathering in her throat it gathered really deep in her lungs and was crazy bad whenever she had a cold. She ended up on a pill for asthma for a few years but she is 10 now and has been off of it for awhile. Don't know if Story may have that too, but thought I'd mention it.
Are you guys going to be doing professional pics this year? If so I would love to see them. I know you have a large family and I'm kind of low on the list since you and I haven't even met, but I'd love a pic of my youngest little cousin. LOL, just put it on facebook and I'll "steal" it again if you don't have enough to send me one. Of course, this is assuming that you are getting the professional pics done in the first place.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you and Mat. He was always my favourite cousin and I am SO happy that he has you and Story in his life.

well, what a wonder story this is. Story has done so well, it is hard to believe she is almost 2 yrs. old. The time seems to have flown by. Love the pic of her beside the tree. She certainly is a miracle child. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2010.
